Accessibility

Racing should be easier to access as well as easier to understand.

The Thoroughbred is being designed so that people can navigate, read and use the public website without unnecessary barriers. The same principle will guide the iOS and Android product as it moves toward public release.

Our approach

Accessibility is part of the product standard rather than a separate visual mode. We aim for clear hierarchy, readable contrast, meaningful headings, labelled controls, keyboard-usable navigation and interfaces that do not rely on colour alone to communicate essential information.

Website navigation and content

The public website is structured with semantic headings, links and form labels so that keyboard and assistive-technology users can understand the page hierarchy. Decorative imagery is kept out of the accessibility tree where it does not add meaning, while informative imagery is given appropriate text alternatives.

We also avoid presenting unfinished product mock-ups as functional interfaces. Where a diagram is illustrative rather than interactive, the surrounding text is intended to carry the same essential information.

Racecourse accessibility information

Racecourse facilities, access arrangements, parking, viewing areas and assistance services can change by venue and meeting. The Thoroughbred may provide planning context, but current official racecourse information should remain the source of truth for a specific visit.

Course guides are therefore designed to link users back to the relevant official racecourse and travel information where exact arrangements need to be confirmed.

Current limitations

The public website and mobile product are still evolving. New components and integrations may introduce accessibility issues that were not present in an earlier version. We will treat those as product defects to be corrected rather than permanent exceptions.

The consumer mobile app is still in active development, so a separate app accessibility statement will be published when the public release build is sufficiently stable to assess accurately.

Tell us about a problem

If something on The Thoroughbred prevents you from accessing information or completing an action, email db@diabloaquila.com with the page, device or assistive technology involved and a short description of the problem. We will use that information to investigate the issue.
